Movie Break

Posted on

It’s been quite a while since I’ve watched a movie in a theater – almost a month, ever since when I was busy getting Mind Erase Media‘s Ugly Sexy Halloween 2007 Party together. I normally average 5 to 6 theater movies a month. I’ve got to make up some loss time…

Lust, Caution

Along with Krnee, Eszter, and Elaine T., we watched Ang Lee’s Lust, Caution last night. And, I’m sure this is old news to a lot of you, but, this movie is NC-motherfuckin’-17! Woo-hoo! As much as I despise the MPAA and their condescending rating system, people should know that NC17 stands for “adult” material. There were people who were shocked how sexually graphic this movie was. To me, those who respond with this kind of shock are naive and are living in a medieval world. They are deprived having exprience much movies, and continue to possess child-like movie minds. I blame a large part of this social ill on the MPAA, and the people who believe in it’s system. Some even say the sex scenes are unnecessary, but, I’m sorry, I can’t imagine people reacting as they would if the scenes were toned down, and that would devalue the strength of the content of the movie… in fact, the shock reactions of these people tells more about the audience, then the filmmakers. People, it’s images of people having sex – it’s the natural order of the world. What’s the big deal? Your parents did it to create you. Are you shocked? Do you feel ickey all over now?
