rayhomdotcom meeting Sung Hi Lee, in 1999, San Francisco.

rayhomdotcom, when it was still “coming soon” in 1999.

Below is what my website, first looked like, in 1999. It got progressively worse than this, before I even knew what good design was. I was going for a newspaper look, and some have said it was a decent attempt. I created the page, mainly to promote my writings and share photos of my personal life with my friends, on rayhom.com. That date, is the actual date when I had put it live.

That is literally my first personal email, that I used, that you see, on the bottom, of the page: rayhom@ix.netcom.com. Netcom was the ISP, that I used, at the time, if I recall correctly. Prob when I had a bulky cellular phone. The “AOL Sucks” button there, was prob because of the hyped up AOL trial discs, that got you connected, but full of ads, during around that time. It didn’t link to anything, according to my HTML code.

I still have all the files, of this page, and that AsianHOME logo is broken, because it was pulling all the graphics, from their online site. Apparently, it was a search function, of whatever AsianHOME’s site was meant to offer. My guess, prob Asian themed products and services. The asianhome.net url, just spins, prob a dead site. I mean, that was over 25 years ago.

And, that Sung Hi Lee, little bottom-left corner, was meant for me to deconstruct my over-enthusiastic sharing of my having met Sung Hi Lee, at an Abzolut clubbing event, during the late 90s, in San Francisco. Besides Clive Barker, she was the other celebrity, that I was oversharing, pre-social media era, and before the comic cons. There is a somewhat embarrassing post, that I had titled,”Why Sung Hi Lee?” that I posted, a few months, when I site initially went live (or was it a Friendster or MySpace post, maybe), that I have since hidden. I was defending my pic of Sung Hi Lee (although, I didn’t really get criticism of) prob because I was feeling some insecurity of calling attention to it much. I felt odd about myself doing so. I do have a self-consciousness about when I’m stuck in a loop.

Anyways, this was a screenshot, that I captured, from my browser, of my local files, as I dig up older content. I just wanted to share and reflect on my (somewhat cringey) beginnings, of rayhomdotcom …
